Besilios the Sheep & Naemyra the Rabbit

Bio:

Besilios and Naemyra are a pair of aspiring French models with day jobs in the mainstream fashion world, but whom moonlight as alternative fashionistas.

Both hailing from France, they met at a Fashion college where they bonded over a love of political and pop cultural fashion trends. Besilios studying history, inspired by the work of his grand-aunt, a political model of days past, and Naemyra studying management at the behest of their business oriented parents.

While Besi made his way into working at a fashion art museum and Naemyra got a good gig as a sportswear model, both of them still come get together to brainstorm alternative fits and enjoy the nightlife of their city.

Besilios adheres to a semi-niche fashion movement of sheep whom use their own wool as clothing. In this world its a product still used by most other species to make clothing, yet wearing ones own fur is still considered obscene. A few generations ago, many sheep across Europe and the Americas began styling their own bodily wool to project pride for their bodies and their place in global trade, and by Besilios' time, its turned from a shocking political statement to just a curious stylistic choice.

His biggest inspiration to engage in this and the fashion world in general was his grand-aunt, who was a leading figure in that early movement. While most others of the time took the stying in a highly naturalistic direction, she took it more fashionable and well... erotic... But as an in-between, Besilios styles himself both cute and practical. His style is rather underground as of now, but he hopes to make his mark on the history of his species self-expression.

Besilios certainly made a mark on his friend Naemyra when they first met in college, having entered fashion school with a vague love of clothing's social power and being enamored by that Besilos showcased. However, they were mostly relegated to studying fashion-adjacent business management to appease their parents woefully unimpressed by their dreams but willing to give them a bit of wiggle room.

When the two got out of school however, that degree came in handy for getting them into a good spot in the modeling industry for supporting the two as roomates and their side hustles.

Origins & Inspirations

Though they were both first created around the same time, they came from different but similar sources -- MMOs I desperately needed to export OCs out of. Besilios was a little guy I made in Animal Jam while using my last moments with my Membership to catalogue characters, but his design really stuck with me afterwards. Then, Naemyra was a goober I made in Phantasy Star Online 2 (the first on the Dreamcast having been a darling of mine months prior), before being dismayed to learn the game could not run on my computer to save its own life.

Both these designs also came out of me at a time when I really wanted to start having more OCs around again, and so I quickly stuck them together and started developing a little world of furry guys to play with. Since then I've been pumping out those fellas on an irregular basis without a lot of direction, except for a common theme of them often coming in pairs and inspired by music. Besi and Nae weren't initially themselves, but an album I was really into at the time filled them with a lot of life.

Now they serve as somewhat the flagship mascots for this little world. And when I remember they exist they're always a delight to draw.
